In February, we delivered our first Connected Data Workshop of 2022, Digital Twin Foundations' with Andy Till, former BP Information Management and Document Control (IMDC) Manager for the North Sea.
Having an understanding of your engineering information and then connecting the relevant data sources, enables this information to be integrated into one ecosystem, also known as a digital twin.
This digital twin foundations workshop took place on 23rd February 2022, but we do have the recording available to watch. See the 'watch recording' button below, or use this link to see the workshop
We had a highly engaged audience for this workshop with lots of questions, we ran over our usual 30 minutes, but there were some great questions, we had to keep going!
During the workshop, we shared a success story, directly from the Project Owner, of how five digital twins were built from legacy engineering information for a major oil and gas operator, with well-understood engineering information at the heart of the transition from disconnected data to connected data.
Andy Till recently left BP to become an independent 3DV consultant after 31 years working for the major oil and gas operator in engineering, IT, project and information management roles. Most recently he was the Information Management and Document Control (IMDC) Manager for the North Sea. A key success was the leadership in visioning and delivering 5 detailed Engineering Digital Twins, for both brownfield and greenfield assets. He moved the organisation from document centred delivery to an industry-leading engineering information-centric approach, underpinned by the latest information management technologies
Andy holds an MBA and a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He is a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the Institute of Engineering Technology (IET) and registered with FEANI as a European engineer. Andy has spoken at a number of national and international events on information management from a practical engineering perspective. In the past, Andy has held Project Management Professional (PMP) and TUV Functional Safety certifications.
Lin’s experience includes working extensively in oil and gas projects. His career has transitioned from Mechanical Engineering, Application Development, Project Services Management and then onto Information Management.
He works with a project team pragmatically to help them capture their requirements. He was practising Information Management on Projects before the discipline was recognised and as such has experienced the challenges that can arise whilst rolling out solutions.
Lin has also been involved with the Capital Facilities Information Handover Specification project (CFIHOS) since its inception
This workshop is a great opportunity to hear first-hand experience about the foundations that were required to build digital twins for a major owner-operator.
